Who I Am
I'm Brianna Au โ founder of Rising Within.
I'm a U.S. Army veteran, wife, mother, tutor, adult coach, and the person behind Rising Within.
I came to this work the long way.
My background includes military service, psychology, crisis and trauma training, addiction and recovery studies, coaching certification, educational studies, and lived experience that has shaped how I show up with people.
I lost my first-born daughter in 2017, and what followed was the slow, unromantic work of learning how to remain present in my own life again โ in my body, in the rooms I walked into, and in the years that followed.
That work shaped the way I now sit with students, parents, and adults:
Patient. Present. Unhurried. Structured. Honest about what I can and cannot do.
This page is for families and adults who want to know more about the person they may be working with before booking.
How I Work
My approach is patient, structured, and adaptive.
That sounds like a phrase, but it is the operating principle.
Patient โ because real progress does not happen on a campaign timeline. Students need time to build skills. Adults need time to rebuild, reflect, and move forward honestly.
Structured โ because vague support does not move much forward. Tutoring sessions have a clear academic focus. Coaching sessions have a working agenda. The plan is real, even when the work is flexible.
Adaptive โ because the plan serves the person, not the other way around. If a student needs to slow down, we slow down. If an adult arrives with something pressing, we make room for it while still holding the larger direction.
You are not adapting to me.
I am adapting the work to the person in front of me.
For Parents Considering Youth Tutoring
When I work with students, my goal is not to force them through a one-size-fits-all program.
My goal is to understand where they are, what they can do, where they are stuck, and what your family is trying to build toward.
I work with Kโ12 students in academic tutoring, curriculum support, skill-building, enrichment, applied learning, and project-based instruction.
I can support students who are behind, students who are advanced, students who are rebuilding confidence, and students whose learning profile does not fit the standard mold.
Students with IEPs, 504 plans, diagnoses, or learning differences are welcome.
I am not your child's IEP team, school, therapist, or clinical provider. But within the tutoring relationship, I adapt the pace, format, materials, and instructional approach to the student in front of me.
Tutoring with me may include support in areas such as:
Reading
Writing
Math
Science
Social studies
Study skills
Executive functioning support
Applied STEM
Outdoor and practical sciences
Literature and written reflection
Parent-selected curriculum
ESA-funded tutoring is provided under Tutoring: Specific Subject and must remain academically focused.

For Adults Considering Coaching
When I work with adults, the work is structured, non-clinical personal development.
It is not therapy. It is not counseling. It is not mental health treatment.
Coaching may be a fit if you are navigating transition, recovery, growth, grief, rebuilding, goal clarity, faith-integrated reflection, or the slow work of becoming steady again.
My main adult coaching focus areas include:
Life Transitions For adults navigating divorce, empty nest, career change, relocation, retirement, new parenthood, identity shifts, or other major life changes.
Recovery & the Slow Rebuild For adults rebuilding after burnout, loss, illness, addiction recovery, grief, or another major disruption.
Faith-Integrated Coaching Faith-integrated coaching is my default approach. Secular coaching is available by request during intake.
Veteran-Focused Coaching For fellow veterans navigating service-related transition, work, identity, recovery, or life after service.
Coaching is private pay only.
